RED vs YELLOW Dragon Fruit


The variety of Hylocereus undatus is also known as white or round pitahaya, since its red skin has white pulp with black seeds.

Another variety of the red pitahaya is the Setenocereus thurberi. Also known as pink pitahaya. It has a red skin and its pulp is pink with black seeds.

In general, red dragon fruit contains antioxidants, vitamin B3, riboflavin, and thiamine. Important substances for human nutrition. In addition, it is rich in vegetable fiber, helping with intestinal transit. And of course, high concentrations of water, vegetable protein and low calorie content.

Selenicereus megalanthus is the edible variety of dragon fruit with a spiny, yellow rind.

It is also known as a yellow tropical fruit due to the characteristics of its skin. It is usually more delicate than the red pitahaya variety, which makes the yellow pitahaya cultivation less.

Unlike the red variety, it contains concentrations of vitamin C. Its carotene content and lycopene properties make the yellow pitaya the preferred one for its antitumor, antioxidant and strengthening action of the immune system.
